About Me
My current job title at Tampa Bay Library Consortium is Automation Services Technologist. I frequently shorten this to Technologist.
To put it more conventionally, I’m a systems librarian—that means I’m a technology-savvy person with a master’s degree in library and information science. I enjoy, and I’m good at:
- Learning about new technology and how it fits into existing services and technologies;
- Developing new skills—programming languages, practical techniques, and other toolsets;
- Explaining technical things to people whose skills are not primarily technical in nature;
- Explaining non-technical things to people whose skills are primarily technical in nature;
- Advocating for a creative commons of information, images, sounds, software, and other cultural resources licensed under terms that encourage use and adaptation.
I will be moving to Atlanta in Fall 2007.
